Job overview

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who has a passion for supporting young people within our Post 16 provision children within our Secondary Year Groups, to learn and ‘blossom’ in spite of their communication difficulties.

Our student’s primary area of need is their speech, language and communication difficulties. In our Post 16 provision we are supporting them either to access a course at one of 3 local colleges we partner with, or to access a program of carefully chosen work experience opportunities, alongside teaching and therapeutic support on site at Blossom House Post 16. Therapy and teaching are provided in an integrated way for all students following a transdisciplinary model both on site and as is support provided at college or work placements. You will work closely with the teaching and support staff, as well as with our OT department, physiotherapist, specialist SPLD teachers, and Art Therapists on a daily basis.


The ideal candidate will have:

• Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging, mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff.

• Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.

• An ability to work closely with Therapists from other disciplines in order to integrate SLT goals into the educational or workplace setting.

• The ability to build good working relationships with young people, teachers, parents and carers.

• Knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning and implementing, therapy programmes.

• An independent approach and be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of standardised assessment and clinical observation.

• The ability to promote and help students to develop skills in problem solving, self-advocacy and adapting to different situations amongst others, within an environment that builds confidence and self-esteem is essential.


Experienced Speech & Language Therapist Band 5 / Band 6 equivalent (AfC Band) or Newly Qualified Speech & Language Therapist Newly Qualified (AfC Band)

The role is a Permanent, Full-Time or Part-Time with a minimum of 3 days.

Monday to Friday: 08:30am – 17:00pm

Salary: Starting from £32,400 (newly qualified)

To Start: September 2024
