St Bernard’s is a successful Catholic comprehensive school and part of the Diocese of Lancaster, serving the community of Furness and is on the edge of the Lake District National Park.
We are seeking to appoint a permanent, enthusiastic and highly motivated Subject Leader for English to join our school as soon as possible. The candidate should be an exceptional Subject Leader for English with a commitment to academic excellence and helping every child succeed. We have a well resourced English department and have close links to our schools within the Trust.

St. Bernard’s Catholic High School is a mixed, non-selective Roman Catholic secondary school situated in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. There are approximately 700 students at the school between the ages of 11-16.
St. Bernard’s Catholic High School was established in 1979 as a result of a merge of two local schools.

The school’s ethos and values underpin good behaviour and encourage students to become respectful and courteous citizens. For instance, students are regularly encouraged to raise money for charity throughout the academic year”.
