Job overview

Salary: £38,897 p.a. Full-time (37 hours per week). Full year. Permanent. Based at London Road Campus.

We are looking for an experienced Systems Developer to join our Technical Services team, designing, developing, and supporting a range of in-house systems and integrations that underpin key business processes across the college.

You will work hands-on with ASP.NET (C#), SQL Server, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and reporting and business intelligence tools (SSRS/PowerBI) to deliver reliable, data-driven solutions. A key part of the role involves working within the Further Education sector, with direct experience of FE Management Information Systems (MIS) and education data being desirable.

You will also support supplier systems, build and optimise reports and dashboards, and develop automations using Microsoft 365, scripting, and cloud services. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest or experience in AI-enabled solutions, including Microsoft Copilot or modern automation/AI platforms, to help drive efficiency and innovation.

You’ll be an analytical problem-solver, comfortable working with complex datasets and stakeholders, and keen to contribute to continuous improvement and future digital developments.

Shrewsbury College is Shropshire’s largest college and a designated sixth form offering sixth form college terms and conditions. 2100 A-Level students are taught at our Welsh and English Bridge Campuses in the centre of Shrewsbury with our London Road Campus offering a broad range of vocational and higher-level courses to 2400 16-18 year olds, 4000 adult students, 300 HE students and 900 apprentices. The college achieves excellent student outcomes and enjoys outstanding financial health.  The college was inspected in March 2025 and judged to be ‘Outstanding’.  As a result of continuing growth in student numbers we are looking to recruit outstanding colleagues who share our student centred ethos and commitment to excellence.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect staff to share this commitment. As an employer we are also committed to promoting and protecting the physical, financial, social and mental health of all our staff. An enhanced DBS Check will be required for all the above posts, which are exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 and related amendments. As an equal opportunities employer, Shrewsbury College welcomes applications from all sections of the community and is proud to be a Disability Confident employer. We actively encourage and support applications from disabled candidates. Where applicants meet the minimum criteria for the role, we will offer an interview whenever practicable in line with the terms of being a Disability Confident employer.
