About Chiltern Way Academy Futures

Welcome to Chiltern Way Academy Futures.  Our site in Basingstoke is a short stay school for learners who have been permanently excluded, or who are at risk of exclusion.  We can support up to 42 learners on site and we also offer outreach services to support young people in mainstream schools who are facing barriers to inclusion.  The length of time that learners are supported by us varies according to individual needs.  We can also support up to 20 learners through home tuition who, for medical reasons, are unable to attend school.

We always offer a warm and nurturing welcome and the opportunity of a genuine fresh start to learners.  Our starting point is young peoples’ wishes and aspirations for their future, from this we develop a person-centred and step by step plan to move towards these.   Positive and trusting relationships between staff and young people and their families are vital; we establish this from the beginning of our work together.  We want young people to leave our school, whatever the length of their stay, equipped to successfully move on to the next stage in their education.  Ultimately, we want all our learners to be able to make informed choices about their employment, relationships, community participation and independent living.

We aim to provide an engaging and enjoyable curriculum that is focused on Literacy, Numeracy, Life Skills and Personal Development.  We offer a range of creative and physical development opportunities which vary across the year, and try to match these to the strengths and interests of our cohort at the time.  All learners are allocated a key worker in school and a range of interventions are available to support individual needs.

We are happy to invite visitors to come and find out more about our school.
