Job overview

Required for 1st September 2024

Teacher of Art and Design

Permanent – Full-time

Salary: Teachers Pay Scale

(0.9 will be considered for the right candidate – this is equivalent to one day off a fortnight)

We require, from 1st September 2024, an outstanding, creative and passionate Teacher of Art, with the ability and willingness to teach other subjects within the Technology rotation, to join our highly motivated, academically successful and forward thinking Art, Design and Technology Faculty. We seek a multi-skilled practitioner, with excellent subject knowledge, who will inspire our pupils, nurturing and guiding them to excel in all Art, Design and Technology subjects and grow as an individual.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, inspiring and able to teach Art to all abilities across the school, from Years 7 to 11, whilst enhancing our pupils’ enjoyment of the subject and also contributing to a highly inclusive and successful extra-curricular programme. Preference will be shown to applicants with the ability to offer an additional Technology subject, such as textiles, graphics, product design, electronics, ceramics or food.  Experience of teaching BTEC Art (Textiles) would be a distinct advantage. To facilitate this, we are able to provide high quality CPD to support the right candidate to enhance their subject knowledge and skills in each subject area, if needed.

As a highly popular and oversubscribed 11-16 girls’ Academy with just under 1000 pupils, we have a reputation for outstanding teaching and learning. This is a school where teachers can teach and pupils can learn, making exceptional progress as evidenced in the school’s continual high academic outcomes. We are the 9th top achieving non-selective secondary school in Greater Manchester. We have a supportive programme of personal development, high expectations of pupil behaviour, academic rigour and a strongly inclusive ethos.

We are excited to be able to offer this position to join a welcoming and supportive team, in a positive work environment, where you can make a valued contribution to our continuous development. Working in the Art, Design and Technology Faculty would offer you the opportunity to collaborate with practitioners who are committed to professional development and have the highest expectations of and aspirations for the pupils they serve. We have high expectations of ourselves and each other, but we are always ready to support one another, too.

Further information and an application form can be obtained from the TES or on our website at: www.fairfieldhighschool.co.uk . CVs will not be accepted.

CLOSING DATE:       9.00am on Friday 7th June 2024

INTERVIEWS:            w/c Monday 10th June 2024 – date to be confirmed

Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible as the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint an appropriate candidate during the application process.
