Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Teacher of Chemistry (or graduate trainee) to join a School based in Rutland.

Whether you are an ECT, or an experienced teacher, this position offers an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading schools in the UK with the highest ambitions for science education.

This position would also suit a recent graduate looking to train and qualify as a teacher whilst working.

A graduate trainee would gain experience in a well-resourced department, working with a team of committed specialists. A training year would involve completing a University of Buckingham PGCE leading to QTS at the end of the year whilst teaching a suitably reduced timetable. A trainee teacher would have full responsibility for their own classes during the year, guided by their mentor, and would also undertake teaching placements in a different school setting.

You will be working with six specialist Chemistry teachers, working in a highly collegiate faculty of fifteen teachers, supported by a superb technical team. The Science faculty is well-funded and particularly well-resourced, but new initiatives and experience are welcomed.

If you share their aspirations for the school to be the national centre for excellence in science education in the United Kingdom they would be delighted to hear from you.

Benefits

In return the School offers a community that values people. They are warm, compassionate and mutually supportive. This is reflected in their working environment and the benefits they are able to offer:

  • 50% contribution to premiums for the School’s private health scheme
  • Free Westfield Healthcare
  • Free membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 annual joining fee)
  • Free staff lunches in term-time
  • School fee discount
  • 25% Holiday Club discount at the School's Sports Centre for children of staff
  • Retail, gym, supermarket, cinema and restaurant discounts
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Occupational Health Services
  • Free annual flu jabs
  • Recognised as a “Disability Confident” employer
  • Recognised as a “Mindful” employer
  • Recognised as “Investors in Diversity”

Interviews will take place on Friday 3rd May 2024.

All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role.
