We would consider candidates on either a full or part time basis for the position and are willing to discuss hours by mutual agreement. The role would suit an individual seeking to broaden or deepen their experience or a new entrant to the profession as we could offer this as an NQT position with associated support from the Senior Teacher and a department mentor.
The Drama Department currently consists of two full time members of teaching staff and a Performing Arts Co-ordinator. In summer 2016 the department moved into purpose built facilities consisting of two drama studios, with state-of-the art lighting and sound facilities.
Drama is taught in all year groups throughout the school, with both Eduqas GCSE and AQA A Level options. It is a popular subject at all levels, with all examination students achieving or exceeding expectations. 100% of students achieved A*-C at GCSE and 100% of students achieved A*-B at A Level in 2017.
The department provides a range of co-curricular activities for students, including Drama clubs, school productions, residential trips and theatre trips. Speech and Drama classes are provided alongside curricular drama. We also have strong links with the Music Department and collaborate with them on productions on a regular basis.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL:
Entrance to the School is by competitive examination and the School values its excellent academic reputation. The students are highly motivated and eager to learn. Significant emphasis is also placed on the broad and balanced curriculum, the wide-ranging co-curricular activities and the caring and supportive environment.
The ISI regulatory compliance inspection in September 2016 recorded that all eight parts of the standard were met and our report in the Good Schools Guide 2016 describes our “Excellent Results achieved with a big dollop of humour, humanity and freedom of thought”.
