Job overview

Teacher of English

Teacher Main Scale or UPS

Full time or part time from September 2024 on a permanent basis.

We are recruiting for a Teacher of English to join the successful and thriving English Department here at Cleeve from September 2024. We are very flexible regarding full-time or part-time.

ECTs are very welcome and encouraged to apply and our provision for new members of staff is strong, particularly driven by our emphasis on career development. We are a teacher training lead hub school, which brings opportunity and mirrors being a centre of excellence for staff training. On appointment, you will be supported by a successful Head of Department, and a broader team of professionals, depending on your stage of career development. We pride ourselves on being the school of choice for ECTs.

If we appoint an ECT then we would pay your salary over the Summer break, before starting in September. We would also consider starting you on a higher M-scale point than M1. For a more experienced teacher, there could be the opportunity of a TLR.

The English Department is a thriving community of subject specialists. English Literature is taught as a core subject, alongside Language, at Key stage 4. At A-Level we offer two qualifications: English Literature and English Language and Literature combined. Within the Department we also offer an A-Level in Film Studies. Our Key Stage 3 provision is broad and varied, including classic Literature and modern fiction with a focus on inclusivity and cultural capital.

Closing date for applications is 9am on Thursday 23rd May 2024

Ofsted

“The overall achievement of students is good, and outstanding for some. It is outstanding for those students who need extra help and in some subjects, including mathematics. Students’ achievement in English and in the sixth form is good and improving.”

“Much teaching in all subjects and in the sixth form is at least good, with a significant proportion that is outstanding.”
