Job overview

Due to increasing student numbers, we have an opportunity within our successful English Department on a permanent basis, to provide an outstanding level of education for students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

We are welcoming applications from ECTs for this role.

KS3 follow a challenging and engaging scheme of work, which provides them with the language and literacy skills required for their KS4 studies, where they follow the AQA English Language 8700 and AQA English Literature 8702 specifications for GCSE.

There is also a pastoral element to the position, where all teachers have a tutor group affiliated with one of our six houses. Tutors play an important role in the pastoral life of our students, and are responsible for a range of activities assigned to your tutor group, including PSHE and other whole school activities and inter-house competitions related to our FLAME values.

St Joseph’s Catholic Academy is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust which is one of four Trusts in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The Trust includes five Secondary and 25 Primary Schools across South Tyneside, Sunderland and East Durham.
