We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and inspirational Qualified Teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition to join our committed and successful staff team. This post is suitable for a new or experienced specialist Food Preparation & Nutrition teacher. Part-time and flexible working requests will be considered.

Testbourne is a high performing school, with students achieving consistently excellent results. In 2023, over 55% of students achieved a ‘strong’ pass in both English and Maths, with 15% of students achieving the top grades 9-7 in both of these subjects. A total of 90 grade 9s were achieved by our year 11s across their subjects in 2023. 


The successful candidate will:  

  • be an expert teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition; 
  • be passionate about the subject, teaching in a way that engages students and challenges    their thinking;  
  • have a passion for learning and teaching and be committed to effective teaching through reflective practice;  
  • be forward thinking and keen to develop as a practitioner;  
  • be educated to degree level in a Food-related subject and/or have relevant industry or teaching experience in order to be able to teach challenging lessons so that students can reach the top grades in the subject;  
  • be an inclusive practitioner, able to develop positive relationships, and with a desire to help all students, irrespective of their background, achieve their best.

Testbourne Community School, an 11-16 comprehensive school with an extremely able cohort, is an Outstanding School (Ofsted 2010) which provides a forward thinking, outward looking and vibrant learning environment. In 2021, our TAG Attainment 8 score was 56.43 and 67% achieved a grade 5+ in English and Maths. 84% of students achieved 4+ in English and Maths which is a fantastic achievement.

The school serves the town of Whitchurch and the surrounding area and is within easy reach of Winchester, Newbury, Basingstoke and Southampton with good transport links to the M3 and A34.

Situated on the River Test and surrounded by picturesque rolling countryside, Whitchurch is Hampshire’s smallest town.   Much of this charming town is a conservation area and contains many listed and notable buildings.  It is also host to Whitchurch Silk Mill, a 19th century water mill which is one of Hampshire's hidden gems.
