Job Purpose

• To provide appropriate learning opportunities for students, including taking responsibility for their care, conduct and attainment of students whom they are timetabled to teach 

Specific Responsibilities:

1. To have high expectations of the students including a commitment to ensuring they have the opportunity to reach their full educational potential

2. To establish fair respectful, trusting and supportive relationships with students

3. To demonstrate positive values, attitudes and behaviours expected of students

4. To ensure that learning opportunities are fully inclusive and ensure that social, religious, ethnic, cultural and linguistic differences are respected and support community cohesion

5. To be aware of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework expected of those with QTS

6. To be aware of the policies and practices of the school and share in the collective responsibility for their implementation

7. To communicate effectively with all stakeholders and colleagues

8. To reflect on own performance, improve practice and be responsible for personal development

9. To ensure that subject knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies is up to date and embraces new techniques/pedagogies and is flexible to provide learning opportunities for all 

10. To assess student learning both formatively and summative in order for students to be able to take next steps in their learning as they work towards public examinations and qualifications

11. To be accountable for standards in their classes including student attainment

12. To set targets in accordance with target setting arrangements, monitor progress towards them and where underachievement exists report to Subject Leader so that the appropriate invention strategies may be put in place 

13. To ensure that lesson planning is differentiated and personalised according to student need

14. To set homework in accordance with the school policy ensuring that it builds on previous learning

15. To utilise current, Intend and future technologies to enhance student learning

16. To undertake any duty deemed to be within the scope of the role as directed by the Headteacher

About Ormiston Chadwick Academy

Ormiston Chadwick Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Widnes, Cheshire. There are approximately 643 students at the school, between the ages of 11-16.    

Ormiston Chadwick Academy opened in 2014. It is named after Nobel Prize winner Sir James Chadwick, who discovered the neutron. The school is a member of the Ormiston Academies Trust, a non-profit trust supporting over 30 primary and secondary academies.

Ormiston Chadwick Academy wants students to reach their full academic potential in a supportive and stimulating environment. In the first year, pupils are allocated a mentor to help them discover their talents and interests, and a plan is set out for them to achieve their goals.  The importance of good manners and courtesy are instilled at all times, and the school fosters the core values of: fairness, integrity, self-discipline and respect for others and their environment. 

Ormiston Chadwick Academy believes in developing students’ experiences and transferable skills, offering over 80 extra-curricular programmes ranging from dance to horse riding. Students' can also gain accredited awards such as a First Aid certificate and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The school invites artists, scientists and reputable organisations to come along and help inspire students to achieve their ambitions.
