Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a temporary, full time or part time (0.5), teacher of Mathematics to teach in this selective Grammar School for Boys. Applications are welcome from teachers at any stage in their career.
- The position is effective from 1st January 2019 however, a starting date earlier than this during the 2018 autumn term would be welcome.
- The successful applicant will be required to teach mathematics to pupils in Years 7, 8 & 9. Year 7 are taught in their form groups with setting in years 8 & 9.
- There are six rooms dedicated to mathematics teaching – each is equipped with an electronic whiteboard. Software available includes: Smart Notebook, Edexcel Active Teach & Autograph. The department uses numerous on-line resources to support the students’ learning.
- Extra curricular activities are an important feature of the Department’s work. Colleagues where the timetable permits are given the opportunity to deliver courses in the KS4 Enrichment programme. There are Mathematics activity days and visits to lectures and University events. All students participate in Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mathematics Challenges, with pleasing results. We enter all the UK Maths Team Challenges and other national competitions. There are targeted booster sessions at lunch-time. The School Library contains a wide range of mathematical resources.
King Edward VI Aston School is one of the six King Edward VI Grammar Schools in Birmingham and a member of the King Edward VI MAT. The school is committed to safeguarding the well being of its students and the successful candidate will be required to undertake DBS and Prohibition checks.
