Salesian School is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to teach Maths. We welcome applications from trainee teachers and experienced colleagues alike, including those looking for positions with additional responsibility.

We are a strong team who pride ourselves on working hard to ensure that every student reaches their full potential and enjoys Maths. Last year our students achieved 90% A*-C at GCSE and 66% A*-B at A-Level and several went on to study Mathematics at university.
The Mathematics Department at Salesian is an exciting place to be. Our team is made up of colleagues with a broad range of experience from trainee teachers through to those who have taught for over 25 years. The positive energy and enthusiastic approach of all our staff has created a real buzz in the department; it’s a great place to work.
The school plays a lead role in both the Teach South East SCITT and school-to-school support and we therefore have opportunities for colleagues at all stages of their career development from NQTs to those seeking positions of responsibility such as; mentoring, training, developing others or consulting. Appropriate TLRs are available for positions of responsibility.
The Mathematics Department has trained over 30 teachers in the last year and has participated in national research including an exchange with teachers from Shanghai. Two teachers from the department are also Specialist Leaders of Education with allocations of time to go out to other schools and support and advise.
The opening of a new Autism Centre at the school has allowed us to teach Mathematics to a group of students who would not have previously had the opportunity to participate in mainstream lessons. We are always looking to build on our expertise to give the children in our care the best possible deal.
With the Sixth Form constantly growing at Salesian, there are plenty of opportunities for those who are interested in teaching at Key Stage 5. We have a strong cohort of A-Level Mathematicians and are likely to have almost 200 students studying Mathematics in the Sixth Form next year.
We are interested in employing both new teachers who will benefit from fantastic support to get their career started on the right foot as well as those with more experience who can help drive the department forward. Salesian School is characterised by the philosophy of the Salesian founder St John Bosco (1815-1888). He stressed high educational standards and sound moral and religious education. He insisted too on a friendly atmosphere in his schools where the idea of community could be fostered.
