Teacher of PE

Required September 2024

Permanent, full time

MPR £30,000 - £41,333 pay award pending

We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising of six secondary schools and one primary school with over 750 employees and over 5,500 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands.

Kinver High School is seeking to appoint an inspirational and ambitious PE Teacher to join our ‘warm and welcoming school’ where ‘pupils behave well in lessons’ and ‘are polite and courteous’ (Ofsted Dec 21).

The ideal candidate will share our student-centered values and be an engaging and proactive teacher with a passion for lifelong learning. You must firmly believe and be driven to ensure that every student regardless of starting point, can achieve success, enjoy school, and be engaged with wider school life, to become the best that they can be.

You should be an outstanding classroom practitioner with either the ability and experience to teach through to KS5 (A-Level), or the desire to one day do so. Kinver High School achieves above national outcomes at KS4 and has an ALPs score of a 2. The successful candidate will build on current developments within the school, Trust and nationally, to continue to improve outcomes and raise aspirations for all students.

The PE department is well-resourced and highly regarded by our students, parents and carers. We have a four-court state of the art new Sports Hall (2022) that includes a gym and dance studio. Our outdoor sporting space includes a floodlight outdoor 6-court netball court, 2 football/rugby pitches, athletics track and our own nature reserve used for orienteering and Forest School. We are also fortunate to have access to sailing boats and a fleet of mountain bikes that means our students can access elite sports and experiences.

We are a highly successful and increasingly popular oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school of just over 800 students, situated in the picturesque village location of Kinver on the western fringe of the West Midlands. The school has undergone rapid growth in recent years due to its popularity, moving form a 4-form entry in Year 7 to 6-form entry. The school operates its own designated school coach transport service, which means that our intake spans 5 local authorities and our parents and students choose to come to us, making Kinver the non-selective ‘selective’ school.

We are sure that once you visit us and meet our students, you’ll find that we are the school for you and your career journey, our CPD through school and in partnership with Invictus is exemplary.

We would strongly encourage you to get in touch and arrange a visit. We want the very best teachers for our students and look forward finding out if you are that person.

Please contact the Headteacher’s Personal Assistant, Mrs L Chamberlain lchamberlain@invictus.education to arrange a visit or request further details.

Kinver High School is widely recognised as a friendly and welcoming school community where all are valued. We aim to support and challenge all our students to work hard and have high aspirations for academic success and personal development. We do this through a curriculum designed to ensure that students develop the wide range of skills and attributes required to be a successful member of society as well as gaining the best possible recognised qualifications; a clear and positive behaviour and rewards system which ensures the school has a positive learning environment and a comprehensive student support structure to make sure all students can access help and guidance when they need it.

Kinver is a small 11- 18 secondary school providing for about 650 students. Being relatively small for a secondary school is seen by parents and students as highly beneficial because we are able to know all of our students well and help them thrive in a caring and close knit environment. Our students flourish in this setting and as a consequence tend to be the best advertisement the school could have. On a regular basis, visitors to Kinver High comment on how well-behaved, friendly and confident our students are. The attainment of students at Kinver is consistently above the national average and their behaviour is very good.

On the 1st March 2015, our school became an academy as a founding member of the Invictus Education trust along with three other local schools, Ellowes Hall Sports College, Crestwood School and Wombourne High School. The reason for taking this exciting step was to add even greater capacity to our ability to provide the best possible education for our students. Having now been joined by Leasowes High School and Pedmore High School, the six schools of the Trust work together to achieve that aim. We are six separate academies but take every opportunity to ensure that our combined efforts add up to a better educational experience for the three thousand students across the Trust.

Following from our conversion to academy status, we changed our school name, which now takes its name from its location in the beautiful rural setting of Kinver. The school serves a wide area comprising of the South Staffordshire villages of Kinver, Stourton, Swindon, Bobbington and Trysull. In addition, it is important to note that we also have many of our students come to us from the Stourbridge and wider Dudley areas, Cookley and Kidderminster, the South of Wolverhampton and Shropshire.
