Teacher of PE - (full-time or part-time)
Oswestry School is looking to appoint a full-time or part-time Teacher of PE, to join us in September 2024 or January 2025. This role would be suitable for an experienced practitioner or those newly qualified. The successful applicant will look forward to teaching PE to pupils across all Key Stages including our Prep School. In addition, the successful applicant will be required to teach GCSE, A Level and Cambridge Technical Sport Science; a popular subject here at Oswestry School. Further, we are looking for someone who can offer extracurricular opportunities across the department and wider school to enhance the pupil experience at Oswestry School. Specific specialisms or interests in Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball or Gymnastics would be desirable yet not essential.

Located in the ancient town of Oswestry in the county of Shropshire, the School was founded in 1407 and, as such, lays claim to being one of the oldest truly independent schools in the country. It is located in a beautiful corner of Shropshire close to the Welsh border and enjoys a campus setting and extensive playing fields. Just 30 minutes from the market town of
Shrewsbury and an hour from the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester, the School is well located and draws pupils from all over the county and beyond through its extensive bus routes. A recent ISI report described pupils as “energetic, articulate and responsible throughout the school.” Deliberately non-selective, the School strives to nurture and develop the talents and abilities of each and every pupil both inside and outside the classroom. Recent facility development includes a floodlit astroturf, the Momentum Sports hall, a refectory and a new library.

Values and vision
As a relatively small independent school, Oswestry School is able to offer smaller class sizes as well as a close academic relationship between staff and students. The school adopts a traditional approach to pastoral care, uniform and behaviour. Staff have high expectations of the ability of pupils to police their own behaviour and approach their education in a mature and adult way. The school invests heavily in extra-curricular activities, with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme just one of the major activities on offer.
