George Abbot School is a large 11-18 mixed comprehensive, situated on the northern side of Guildford, within easy reach of the town, the A3 and London Road railway station. It is a forward-looking and dynamic school which has a reputation for excellence in every area. George Abbot became an Academy on 1 July 2011 and went on to be a founding member of the GEP Multi Academy Trust. We also have Teaching School status. 

A well-qualified and highly motivated Teacher of Science is required for January 2019, for a permanent contract. We would welcome applications from any specialism: Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Furthermore, applications will be considered from both newly qualified and established teachers. All applicants must demonstrate a passion for their subject and the ability and skills as a teacher to inspire a love of learning. The ability to teach BTEC would be advantageous. 

You will join a thriving and supportive Science Faculty made up of 25 staff, with a strong technician and support staff team. The faculty has a reputation for achieving excellent results at all levels and the school’s GCSE Science results have been in the top 7% of schools for progress nationally for the last three years. A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics are very popular subjects amongst our students and there are typically six Sixth Form groups per subject.

George Abbot School is a forward thinking academy providing an inclusive education, for around 2,000 young people, aged 11-18. We are located in Burpham, Guildford with good transport links to the surrounding area.
