Job overview

Le Rocquier School is located on the beautiful island of Jersey in the English Channel and are seeking to appoint an inspirational, driven and passionate Science Specialist to become part of a tight team within faculty. This post is available for a start April 2024 or September 2024.

Le Rocquier is a community school serving the eastern parishes of Jersey, but many parents choose to send their children here from all parts of the Island. We are proud of our focus on high expectations in the classroom while striving through our shared values and mission, to instil a strong sense of community and purpose which is reflected in our motto of Learn, Respect and Succeed.  Do please take the time to read our Mission Statement, as it describes in far more detail what the school is endeavouring to achieve for its students and how we turn that mission into day-to-day actions via our ‘Values in Action’ strategies.

We strive to provide a safe and highly supportive environment for the young people who enter through our doors and work tirelessly with them so that they develop into confident, happy and successful citizens, prepared for the global nature of the 21st century world around them.

About Jersey

The Bailiwick of Jersey is a self-governing Crown Dependency, and this has implications for its education system. Schools here operate under Jersey Education Law, which differs from that of the UK.

Our schools follow the Jersey Curriculum, which is based on the English National Curriculum, but with adaptations that enable us to include the study of Jersey’s unique history, geography, and political system.

London is only 30 minutes away by air and France is a mere 14 miles to the east. Jersey is a unique place to live and work, particularly if you and your family enjoy an outdoor and community-focused lifestyle.

Opened in 2006, Le Rocquier School is a successful and flourishing co-educational, non-denominational 11-16 School in the Bailiwick of Jersey with outstanding facilities. The island of Jersey is a crown dependency of the United Kingdom, and situated in the English Channel. There are approximately 800 students on the school roll, along with 60 teaching staff and 50 support staff. Our inclusive school is located in the Saint Clement parish, which is located on the island’s southern coast and has a population of around 10,000.

In 2022 80% of our GCSE subjects added value at GCSE.  Maths, English, Science and many, many others all exceeded expectation (adding value).

In our community we challenge ourselves and each other to be the best we can through our 'Vision in Action' strategies and our rewards system.  We nurture individuality and creativity through inspirational and challenging teaching, high expectations and aspirational goals.  Our school belongs to all of our community through our shared aspiration to develop individuals who are prepared and equipped to contribute to society in a positive and sustainable way, wherever in the world that is.
