Our intention is to appoint a high calibre teacher for our Science department for a position starting in September 2024.

As a dynamic Teacher of Science, you will enthuse students through the provision of high-quality teaching and learning, encouraging all students to develop their potential to the full. The successful candidate will be a teacher who is passionate about all aspects of Science with a drive to make a difference and maintain our high standards. 

 The ideal candidate will:

• Have the ability to develop a love of the subject in order to maintain high standards. 

• Be a committed team-player with experience of having led and managed successful teams. 

• Fully understand the curriculum and have the vision required to raise standards further. 

Students at St Andrew appreciate being taught well and enjoy their learning. They expect high standards and like to be challenged and stretched in the classroom. They participate well and enjoy taking responsibility across the school. Our last set of published GCSE results in 2019 were very strong, especially in combined science: grade 4 and above was 73% and grade 5 and above was 58%. Progress 8 for Science was 0.54 compared to 0.28 across the whole school. Centre Assessed and Teacher Assessed Grades were also very strong. Our first cohort of A Level students received Centre Assessed Grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in August 2020 and the Sciences are and extremely popular part of our sixth form offer. Our most recent results were also extremely pleasing at GCSE and A Level.

Our GCSE results last year were strong with students in Triple Science averaging half a grade above their targets and all students taking double Science on average hitting their target grades. Similarly, students at A Level produced results of which we were very proud; a significant proportion achieving greater than their target grade. Our alumni scientists comprise of several medics including Oxbridge medics.

We

are determined to appoint a candidate who will fit well with our staff body and

one that will exude the whole school ethos. The candidate must be an excellent

classroom practitioner and be able to demonstrate that s/he can play a

St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School is a mixed, Greek orthodox secondary free school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-19. It is located in Barnet, north London, and has the capacity to take about 1,050 pupils.

The school - the first Greek orthodox state-funded secondary in Britain - was established in 2013 jointly by the Russell Education Trust, the Greek Orthodox Church and the Classical Education Trust.
