Our Personalisation Faculty is an innovative area which has had a huge impact. It was launched in 2012 and brought together the leadership of Special Educational Needs, Gifted and Talented, EAL and student progress. The department works with all students who are underachieving to remove barriers to learning. The team deliver literacy and numeracy intervention as well as working with other curriculum areas to assist them in boosting outcomes.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our established Personalisation team providing support to a range of students with additional educational needs. The role will involve inspiring and motivating students who may face a range of barriers to learning. You will be an ambitious, enthusiastic professional educated to at least A-Level or equivalent, but a Batchelor’s degree or equivalent in any area is desirable. It is also desirable to have experience of working with learners with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. Knowledge or experience of teaching Literacy, Numeracy or Phonics, would also be an advantage. You will be keen to experience all aspects of secondary school life, including offering enrichment activities and supporting students’ wider interests. You will have a positive, flexible and independent approach to your work. You will have professional manner and excellent punctuality and organisation. This role would suit a graduate looking for school experience prior to beginning teacher training. 

You will have day to day responsibility for: 

  • Supporting in lessons and ensuring students are making progress across the curriculum
  • Liaising with classroom teachers prior to lessons and organising the preparation of adapted resources for targeted students
  • Liaising regularly with the Head of Personalisation around curriculum and personal issues arising for the students
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group literacy and numeracy interventions
  • Offering lunchtime/breaktime or morning check-ins to students with high needs
