The Exciting Role 

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainer Assessor to join our well established and supporting Education and Early Years Team.

In this role you will be supporting Apprentices across Lancashire to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours and achieve high grades at End Point Assessment. Working closely with employers to support their business needs and engage with employers to support with continued curriculum development.

The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching and learning o ensure that our apprentices have a rich experience and achieve beyond their potential.

This post could suit an experienced practitioner in the sector looking for their next challenge, or an experienced Trainer Assessor looking to make their mark within an Outstanding organisation.

The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Accrington site but may be required to travel across sites.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Deliver all elements of the assessed standards including: training, mentoring, learner reviews, timely feedback and assessment
  • Support with apprenticeship recruitment and enrolments 
  • Be involved in apprentice, College and company inductions
  • Take a “hands-on” approach with apprentices, coaching and demonstrating best practice in line with the new Standards
  • Conduct initial assessment of apprenticeship needs

What We Are Looking For:

  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • A1 qualification (or willingness to work towards)
  • Current commercial/industrial experience
  • Experience of delivery and assessment of qualifications (Teaching Assistant and Early Years)

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
