The Exciting Role 

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a 0.5 Lecturer GCSE or FS English Lecturer to join our Maths & English team, based at Nelson College.

The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Nelson site but may be required to travel across sites.

This post could suit an experienced practitioner looking for their next challenge, a newly qualified teacher looking to make their mark within an Outstanding organisation, or a talented aspiring trainee teacher looking for support with their teaching qualification.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Teaching on GCSE English and Functional English courses from Entry - Level 2, delivering effective learning for students.
  • Planning and preparing high quality teaching as required by your Line Manager to the appropriate number of hours (405 hrs/annum)
  • Creating and maintaining effective links across college to support students to attend and progress
  • Regularly assessing students in order to track and monitor progress

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
