Job overview

The Accommodation Officer will work as part of the Operations Team and will assist with the day-to-day accommodation needs, supported by the Operations Administrator. The principal duties of the Accommodation Officer, involve assisting the Director of Operations at Abbey College to deliver a high-quality accommodation service for our students, and help to ensure the smooth running of the department.

 

Your Duties and Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Managing the process of placing returning students, liaising with students’ parents and agents.

·      Daily management of Host families and supporting with retention.

  • Helping to ensure that the expected standards of operational excellence are met across all boarding houses.
  • Deputising for the Director of Operations in Accommodation related responsibilities.
  • Managing support offered to students who live independently.
  • Dealing with Complaints, Queries and Problems from Students, Hosts, Agents, and Parents.
  • Working with the International Admission Centre
  • Predicting patterns; analysing placements and presenting data to monitor placement success.
  • Ensuring data in SIMS is accurate leading to effective report writing.
  • Managing the creation and collation of student surveys.

 

Qualifications and Experience

You will hold A Levels or equivalent qualifications/experience, be competent in the use of a ICT, particularly the use of MS Word, and Outlook, and Excel, and have a working knowledge of record keeping and data protection. You will have excellent verbal and written English and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Previous experience working with SIMS is desirable.

Checks and Training

• Enhanced DBS checks to ascertain successful candidates suitability to work with children will be carried out. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.

• Online searches will be carried out on candidates for any unsuitable content by or about candidates.

• Two written & verbal references from previous employers and a personal reference will be sought. Referees will be asked about candidates suitability to work with children and whether they know of any disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons and whether candidates have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.

• Candidates full employment history will be checked, any significant gaps will require explanation and proof of any relevant qualifications will need to be provided.

• Successful candidates will be required to complete Child Protection Training via e-learning prior to commencing employment.

• Pre-employment health screening will also be carried out.
