About Star Central

Star Central, which is based at our head office in Blackburn, Lancashire, provides leadership, strategic direction and support to Star Academies, Star Institute and our schools.

The Star Central team includes experts from a range of professional backgrounds, who work together to provide an outstanding support service to the Star community.  We support our schools to provide educational and operational excellence and to cultivate a strong Star community, with the aim of nurturing today’s young people and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders.

The Trust is currently operating hybrid office and homeworking arrangements (three days working at our Trust Headquarters in Blackburn and two days working from home).

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an exceptional individual to act on behalf of the Trust to ensure compliance with legislation and to support our schools in fulfilling their statutory obligations in relation to admissions and exclusions.

You will be assisting in the development and review of policies, allocating school places and providing advice, guidance and training to staff in our schools. You will have responsibility for presenting school appeals, resulting in travelling to areas where our schools are located.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Admissions and Exclusions Team, who work closely together to provide support to Trustees, Governors and Principals in discharging strategic and operational functions.

Working alongside subject experts you will offer support, advice and training to schools and Governing Bodies on all exclusion related matters.

If you have experience of working within an education setting or Local Authority with relevant transferable skills and are looking to try something new and exciting, this could be the role for you.

You will have:

• 5 GCSEs (incl. Maths and English Grade C or above) and A Level/ NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
• 3 years’ administration experience within an education setting or Local Authority.
• Experience of developing, communicating and successfully implementing guidance and procedures.
• Outstanding communication skills to nurture effective relationships and understanding across a range of internal and external organisations.
• The ability to analyse and interpret legislation.
