Job overview

Who is Anthem Schools Trust?

As a multi-academy trust (or MAT), Anthem serves over 8,000 children and young people in 16 diverse schools and communities. Our vision is that together, we create ambitious and successful schools in which every child thrives.

Anthem schools are all united by a shared ambition for children and young people, which is underpinned by a commitment to our values of integrity, collaboration, and excellence.

Who is Boston West Academy?

Situated in south-east Lincolnshire Boston West Academy is a forward-thinking, innovative primary school with a passion for learning beyond the classroom. Much of our curriculum is taught outdoors in our inspirational and award-winning educational school grounds.

At Boston West Academy, we believe that strong, positive relationships provide the foundations for a school to flourish. We enjoy 'working together for success' within an optimistic and positive culture of excellence.

Why Anthem Community Councils?

As part of a multi-academy trust, our school is not restricted to the traditional format of a Local Governing Body that most people are familiar with. Anthem has launched a bold new governance strategy which creates strong effective, links between Anthem as an organisation, individual schools, and the local community.

We value and need local expertise and partnerships, to ensure each school's individual context is known, understood, and celebrated and is at the heart of its community and this is why Anthem's governance strategy includes the introduction of Anthem Community Councils as the local tier of governance.

Could you be an Anthem Community Council Chair?

What commitments does an ACC chair make?

  • Developing close working relationships with the headteacher, school, and wider community.
  • Encouraging and supporting the network of champions to develop relationships and links with the school, community, and Anthem.
  • Chairing termly ACC meetings and collaborating with ACC chairs across Anthem to create a successful network.

Do I have what it takes to be an ACC chair?

  • Can you collaborate with a range of people, and have strong communication skills, with experience of leading people?
  • Do you have the energy, enthusiasm, and drive to enable participation and focus on meetings?
  • Do you have a strong commitment to your community?

If you have the commitment to your local community and skills required to be an Anthem Community Council Chair, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

A key element of our school‘s culture is the ethos of care: care for oneself, for others and for the environment. Our over-arching value of care is underpinned by four other core values: collaboration, attitude, respect and equality (CARE).  We are an outward-facing school and embrace collaboration with others so that we can secure excellent achievements for our children. We continually strive to provide innovative experiences, inside and outside the classroom, that make learning fun.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, visitors, and volunteers to share in this commitment. All post holders are subject to an Enhanced DBS Check, suitable references, and other essential checks.
