Required for September 2024, this is a permanent, part-time role (22 hours per week, term time only) to provide support to the Music department, Performing Arts department and wider audio-visual support to the school. It is an exciting opportunity for someone with practical skills in this area and an interest in developing curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for our students. Excellent communication skills, experience of working in a team and the ability to engage well with adults and children are essential.

We have a high-performing, successful Music department delivering Music and Music Technology to Level 3/A-level. You will also support the use of audio-visual, PA and lighting systems used for Performing Arts and the wider school. Secure knowledge of how to use at least one popular DAW (Digital Audio Workspace) software is essential; the school uses Cubase 10.5 Pro. Wider duties will include support for media aspects of the school website to showcase the life of the school and supporting staff to celebrate students’ work and performances. There will also be safety checks and testing of equipment as part of this role.

We are looking for a positive, proactive, friendly colleague with core skills in key areas and the willingness to undertake training to expand their skillset.

The final working hours for this role will be by mutual agreement spread across four or five days. A degree of flexibility will be needed for evening events, but these are planned well in advance.

King Edward VI School is an 11-18 school serving the community of Lichfield and surrounding rural areas. We want everyone in school to develop to their full potential; it is our job to ensure that students leave us as confident, life-long learners who have a strong sense of responsibility for themselves and for others. We are a learning community with a positive, supportive and friendly environment where we take the time to get to know our students so we can support their learning and their personal development. We seek to develop a strong partnership between students, parents and the school to enable this to take place.

Our overriding aim is to provide the highest quality education for all students. We believe that every individual has potential: our commitment is to help each young person to make the most of their abilities. The majority of our students seek to continue their education with us in our Sixth Form until they are 18 and our results are consistently amongst the best in Staffordshire. Our aim is to ensure that students leave us with the knowledge, skills, confidence and love of learning that is needed to successfully complete their education and throughout their life.

‘It was noted that there is a school culture which is underpinned by high expectations and a climate of mutual respect. As a result, pupils are keen to learn and work hard’. Ofsted October 2017

Learning reaches far beyond the classroom; we seek to provide an all-round education. Extra-curricular activities are offered in a wide range of areas and staff are encouraged to share their own areas of interest with the students. There is also an extensive range of educational visits and events both locally and further afield. Our students are able to explore their potential and develop new skills; we encourage all students and staff to get involved with the wider life of the school and its community.

The school’s strongest assets are its staff and students. If you are considering joining us then please consider coming for an informal visit and see for yourself.

We are committed to professional development and encourage a collaborative approach to school improvement.
