About the Role 

The Classroom Support Assistant (Visuals Arts) position supports the Visual Arts Faculty to deliver a diverse and creative curriculum across a range of Visual Arts subjects. They play a key role in supporting classroom teachers to ensure that all students with diverse learning needs access and participate in the curriculum and activities to achieve the academic goals and social skills required for independent learning and confident participation.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assisting students with day-to-day activities, travelling and other duties that may arise
  • Working in collaboration with the teaching staff in implementing learning and teaching strategies for the students.
  • Supervising students in non-teaching periods.
  • Assisting in teaching duties under the direction and general supervision of a teacher
  • Prepare materials and equipment for classes as required.
  • Carry out regular stocktake of equipment and materials, in consultation with the Faculty Leader of Learning.
  • Assist with the preparation, setup, and pack down of exhibitions and displays, including maintaining the visual displays throughout the College.

Essential Criteria 

  1. An ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration or a willingness to obtain one.
  2. First Aid Certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
  3. Diploma or Certificate in Education Support (Desirable)

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
