The Vacancy

United Learning Trust is seeking to appoint a senior Finance Professional into the role of Cluster Finance Manager supporting two established secondary academies in Salford. These academies are; Salford City Academy and The Albion Academy. Each academy has an experienced and operational Finance Assistant.

The academies in this Cluster have high aspirations for every student and they offer supportive, safe and encouraging spaces for all our pupils to explore and achieve their own aspirations. As stated by colleagues in the most recent engagement survey, some of ‘the best things about working in these schools’ are;

·        Friendly and hardworking colleagues who collaborate towards a continued shared vision of school improvement.

·        Supportive, approachable and strong Senior Leaders and Line Managers

·        Respectful, hardworking and friendly students with positive attitudes to learning.

·        It feels like a family with a real sense of community spirit.

·        Making a difference to the learning and lives of a diverse student population and supporting them to realise and achieve their goals.

The successful candidate will have an overarching responsibility to coordinate with the Executive Business Manager and onsite finance teams at each school, to ensure good financial management in-line with United Learning Trust policies and guidance and streamline processes across the cluster. The delivery of successful output is agreed with each school and the cluster’s Executive Business Manager.

 This role requires a highly focussed individual that is organised and passionate about making a difference in our schools and for the local community. The postholder will deliver a high level of service that supports all staff in providing outstanding learning and progress for our students.

 Applicants must ideally hold a degree or other relevant qualification - ideally in accountancy, business management or a related discipline although this is not essential and candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered.

United Learning

We are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. There is strong practice throughout the trust, allowing our staff to develop quickly and accelerate their career progression.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit.
