Retford Oaks Academy is looking for a Cover Teacher to join our existing team and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced and relevant curriculum for students with support from academy staff during short term absence of class teachers.

The opportunity

  • Delivering the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach.
  • Being responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate.
  • Establishing a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly

The successful candidate will be: 

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Used to working with young people, especially 11-19
  • Adaptable, flexible, confident and calm under pressure
  • Confident with behaviour management skills
  • Well organised
  • Show commitment to professional development
  • Committed to education and teaching

 

Essential

  • Good knowledge in a range of subjects
  • Used to working with young people, especially 11-19
  • Clarity of purpose and student centred vision
  • Understanding of the strategies needed to establish consistently high aspirations and standards of results and behaviour

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching in a secondary environment
  • Evidence of contributing to writing and implementing relevant plans and resources
