Job overview

The deputy head position is a vital leadership role, deputising for the headmistress as required and with a large and varied brief. Central to the role is oversight of pupil welfare, progress and behaviour. In fulfilling these duties, alongside those involving colleagues, parents and logistical matters, the deputy head will ensure the smooth running of school day to day. This role also acts as the school’s deputy designated safeguarding lead. The deputy head will join a strong yet evolving senior leadership team with shared whole-school responsibilities for strategic planning, compliance and operations.

We seek an exceptional teacher who has developed strong leadership skills (as a head of key stage, assistant head, or similar) and has demonstrated the ability to instil a purposeful and positive impact while in that role. They will have a compelling personal presence, high emotional intelligence, and a track record of investing in their development. Naturally, they will also be an excellent classroom practitioner and enjoy working closely with colleagues, parents, and pupils.

Recognising that the retirement of the current deputy has prompted this recruitment, we are looking for the right candidate, externally or internally, who is capable of taking on this strategic role in addition to any responsibilities currently held.

Closing date: Monday 13th May 2024 at 4pm.

Candidates should be contractually available for September 2024.

Interviews will take place on either Monday, 20th, or Tuesday, May 21st, 2024.

Newbridge Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. They will also be asked to complete a declaration to confirm that they are not disqualified from working with children under the Childcare (D) 2009 Regulations.

We strongly encourage candidates of all backgrounds and identities to apply. Each new appointment allows us to bring a different perspective, and we are always eager to diversify further. Newbridge Preparatory School is committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most rewarding work of your career.
