We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Operations to drive us forward and
lead on operations. You may have direct experience already or be a leader up for learning
something new. We are particularly interested in a candidate’s commitment to continual

You will play a key part in the school’s development as we establish ourselves in our new
home and grow our school.
Job Description
Title: Director of Operations
Salary: S23 – S33, (£32,595– £55,170) - Starting salary point dependent on experience
Salary Range: 5-point progression range within S23 – S33 starting point depending on
experience
Reports to: Principal
Working hours: 40hrs per week
Working pattern: Full time 52 weeks (Flexible working pattern or reduced working weeks
considered for the right candidate)
The role:
To lead the admin and operations team as well as external contractors to ensure efficient
systems that support transformational teaching in the classrooms.
Strategic development and leadership of the academy
● To work with the Principal to develop the overall direction of the academy and
drive the development of the academy’s provision and operational systems
● To work in partnership with the Principal and members of the leadership team in
the cycle of planning, implementation, review and evaluation of the academy
Development Plan
● Undertake and when required, deliver or be part of the appraisal system and
relevant training and professional development
● To lead the administration and operations teams and support their development
Finance:
● To carry out the role of Director of Operations, overseeing and managing efficient
& secure financial systems
● To work with external providers to stay up to date on any government and or
educational changes which may impact on the school’s budget
● To be responsible for all matters relating to finance this includes oversight of the
all financial processes and the effective and timely submission of all the annual and
regular returns as required by the DfE/ESFA and external agencies
● To oversee the provision and maintenance of an Assets Register and the Register of
Business Interests
● To review and support maximising income generation
Estate Management:
● To lead the site team and external contractors to ensure the maintenance of the
school site, grounds, boundaries and buildings to a high standard including Security
of site, upkeep of playing fields, gardens, and land drainage.
● To oversee the management and provision of all lettings of the school’s facilities
● To act as the school’s Health and Safety Co-Ordinator. Ensuring appropriate
procedures/checks are operating and implemented
● In co-operation with external advisors, be responsible for monitoring,
implementation and review the school’s Health and Safety policy including all risk
assessment procedures
HR
● To be responsible for the management of all personnel matters in liaison with the
contracted HR service
● To ensure all HR systems and processes are effective and support the academy to
uphold all HR and pay policies
Administration and Compliance:
● With external IT contractors, act as a system manager for the computer network
and MIS, giving guidance to other users
● Ensure that the website is kept up to date in relation to areas of responsibility
● Be responsible for all statutory and statistical returns and ensure that they are
completed as appropriate
● Lead on data protection, taking responsibility for working with our external DPO to
ensure data protection compliance
● Track all school policies and ensure they are updated in accordance with the policy
review schedule
● Monitor and update the risk register
● Be responsible for Governance across the Trust and ensuring the policy review
schedule is adhered to
● To provide reports as necessary to the Governing body and Principal
Other:
● Support the school’s values and ethos by contributing to the development and
implementation of policies practices and procedures
● Help create a strong school community, characterised by consistent, orderly
behaviour and caring, respectful relationships
● To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow
school policies including the staff code of conduct
