Job overview

Are you All About Aldersley? We hope very much that you are!

To be all about Aldersley means to be all about high expectations, all about ambition and all about wanting to make a difference in a local community that needs you. There is doing a job and there is making a difference - we are looking very much for the latter, and we want you to get in touch if that means you.

Aldersley High School is a diverse, high successful 11-18 comprehensive school set in the north-east of Wolverhampton, near to the commuter link of Junction 2 of the M54. We serve a vibrant and ambitious community that is used to having a strong school at its heart, and we would love for you to be part of it.

Aldersley was the founding school of the Amethyst Trust, which has expanded significantly over the past few years to now encompass five schools in a growing and thriving Trust partnership. We benefit from fantastic relationships with our sister schools, meaning that there is great opportunity for networking, professional development and ultimately professional success at Aldersley and beyond in our Trust.

Aldersley has been judged as 'Good' in its most recent inspections in both 2018 and 2023 and has maintained a strong Progress 8 score and above average attainment throughout this period. We have students who want to do well, and our ambition is very clear: we will never settle for anything less than the best for our students in their achievement, their behaviour and their wider personal development.

The Amethyst Trust is at the forefront of educational thinking, with innovative teaching with a knowledge-rich edge, progressive ideas on feedback and staff wellbeing, and excellent provision for SEND students through our well-equipped Resource Base. We benefit from fantastic grounds and facilities, including excellent and regularly-updated ICT, and the Trust is in a strong position to make sure that our staff and students want for nothing.

If you think you that you might be All

About Aldersley, please get in touch to arrange a call, email or visit to our

school. This can be done by contacting Claire Hammond at chammond@aatrust.co.uk

and we will be back in touch with you as soon as we can.

We're in search of a Director of PE and Sport who meets the following criteria:

We are delighted to offer a phenomenal opportunity from September 2024 to drive PE and Sport forward at our school, one where it is of paramount of importance to our community. The Director of PE and Sport will be responsible for the provision of PE and Sport at our school, but will also have the impact to work with and at other schools in our Trust – most notably Moreton – to develop a sporting offer which will make a difference to young people and truly place sport at the heart of school life. We are blessed with students who love sport and we have had great success in a number of areas, but now we want to build on this at Aldersley High School and want a figurehead for Sport who can compel others to raise their game. Beyond the school, there is a chance to develop networks between and beyond our partnership of three secondary schools and two special schools, which benefits from our Amethyst Football Academy and it’s new links to Paris Saint Germain UK, to create a compelling sport offer in our part of the city which really adds value to the student experience.

You will have experience of leading PE and Sport to a very high level in a secondary school or across schools in a MAT, with proven impact and a track record of excellent outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate significant evidence of partnership working, demonstrating the capacity to work beyond one school in the work you have done with partners such as other schools, primary feeders, external providers and local/national competitions. You will have experience of leadership at a high level and the ability to work across school and across the schools in our growing Trust to deliver a dynamic PE and Sport experience for all our students, benefiting from excellent facilities in our extensive grounds.
