A great opportunity has opened for an enthusiastic EAL Coordinator. To provide pastoral care and spiritual growth opportunities to all students. To support small group of pupils who require support as English is their second language or who are new to the school.
Reporting to the SENCO this role will include:
• Support students with EAL and provide small group support to help them acquire and develop English language skills
• Have high expectations and commit to raising the students’ educational achievement
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to raise standards by sharing effective practice
• Liaise effectively with parents or carers on students’ progress and achievements
• Liaise with teaching staff to assess and provide particular support to targeted EAL pupils to raise achievement and enable them to overcome barriers to learning
• Identify the needs of students requiring extra support and support the development of individual targets and intervention plans
• Work in either one-to-one or small group settings with targeted students to help them make progress in terms of their EAL needs
• Lead small focus intervention groups in relation to study skills, organisation, emotional well-being and motivation for EAL learners
• Provide extra support to students through knowledge of a range of activities and opportunities available to them.
Previous experience of supporting students is essential. You must have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must be committed and reliable with excellent communication skills along with a calm, patient, and empathetic nature.
It is also an opportunity for career development as the school offers a regular training programme including access to NVQ qualifications.
