Hurst Lodge School is seeking a full-time Educational Psychologist to join our dedicated team of professionals. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students through comprehensive assessment, consultation, and intervention.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychological assessments to identify students' strengths, needs, and learning profiles, using a range of standardised and non-standardised measures.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective support plans and interventions for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Provide consultation and advice to school staff on issues related to student development, learning difficulties, behaviour management, and social-emotional well-being.
  • Deliver individual and group interventions targeting specific areas of concern, such as social skills development, anxiety management, and self-regulation.
  • Support the implementation of whole-school initiatives to promote positive mental health and well-being for all students.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss individual cases, share insights, and coordinate support strategies.
  • Conduct research and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices to enhance teaching, learning, and support provision within the school.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for school staff on topics related to child development, learning theories, and psychological assessment and intervention.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, interventions, and consultations in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements.
  • Stay updated on current research, legislation, and best practices in educational psychology to inform practice and support continuous improvement.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Educational Psychology.
  • Full registration as an Educational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or eligibility for registration.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting psychological assessments, interpreting assessment results, and providing evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents.
  • Strong understanding of child development, learning theories, and psychological principles relevant to educational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide consultation and support to school staff on complex cases.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equity in education and advocating for the needs of all students.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential.
