Job overview

We are a thriving family of 26 academies spread throughout Cambridgeshire and South Yorkshire. Our aim is that every child, regardless of background or ability, gets a brilliant education. To accelerate and broaden our impact, we are now seeking a tenacious and passionate Executive Principal to support us on the next phase of our journey. In this newly created role, you will work in close collaboration with our Regional Director (Secondary) and Director of Secondary Education to shape our future and embed sustainable excellence across our Trust.

Supporting two schools across the region, this is a genuine opportunity to make your mark and transform the lives of thousands of children and young people. Your deep knowledge of pedagogy and clear understanding of what makes a truly great school will be a huge asset as you challenge and support Principals to achieve great outcomes for the communities we are so proud to serve.

Like us, you will hold extraordinarily high expectations of all pupils, a firm belief that an excellent education is central to transforming lives and an appetite to always seek to do more. As a Trust we are committed to a knowledge-rich curriculum and a traditional approach to teaching, behaviour and culture. We believe that schools must teach powerful knowledge, ’the best that has been thought and said’ and an ‘entitlement curriculum’ for all. We value explicit instruction and have been greatly influenced by Lemov’s ‘Teach Like A Champion’, Rosenshine and recent developments in cognitive science. We believe that the creation of a scholarly culture that is warm and strict, disciplined and joyful, where there is ‘purpose not power’, ensuring impeccable behaviour, where teachers can focus on teaching and pupils can focus on learning, underpins everything.

If you are aligned to our mission, have a track record of improving outcomes and an innovative mindset, then get in touch to find out more. We are always keen to hear from great leaders.

We would encourage you to arrange a confidential conversation with the Regional Director (Secondary), Jo Myhill-Johnson, ahead of your application and we warmly invite you to visit our schools. To arrange a telephone or Teams call, please contact Jo.Myhill-Johnson@astreaacademytrust.org

Closing date for applications: 27th February 2023

Interviews: 8th March & 9th March

Astrea Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Posts are subject to enhanced DBS checks.
