Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80 kms west of Brisbane. The College opened in January 2021 with 96 Year 7 students and will increase by one year level each year until it reaches Year 12. We are seeking a Finance Secretary to assist the School Leadership Team with a wide variety of administrative and financial tasks to support the financial operations of the school.
Under the direction of the Business Manager, you will coordinate financial administration activities and provide support to ensure the school delivers on key reporting deadlines.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• inputting accounts receivables and payables
• data entry
• report preparation and other office duties assigned as appropriate
Skills and Experience
• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role in a school environment
• Demonstrated initiative and attention to detail
• Be a skillful negotiator who is able to liaise with the school’s clients with empathy
• Highly organised and be able to demonstrate sound judgement, confidentiality and discretion
• Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and the BCE finance system, AX Dynamics, is desirable

Position Tenure: Fixed Term
Weeks Worked: School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)
Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term): 12 months
Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 25 hours per week - required to work Monday to Friday each week.
Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 4 - $32.23 per hour
Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
