Head Teacher: Mr Philip Masterson
Geography Teacher
Main Scale, outer London salary scales, £26k to £42k.
We are looking for a Geography Teacher to join us in this permanent role, which is available from September and would suit newly qualified as well as more experienced colleagues, as experience is less important than the ability to enthuse and inspire our students. Part of the Chiswick ethos is our commitment to developing your professional knowledge and skills and protecting your work-life balance as part of our team.
Benefits go beyond pay with the chance of accommodation on site, the possibility of R&R incentives for the right candidates, staff sports and gym facilities freely available, a thriving community spirit and social scene, childcare vouchers and free parking, and all in the context of an over-subscribed academy of 1,300 students situated in the beautiful west London suburb of Grove Park, next to Chiswick Park and the River Thames, with good rail links into central London.
As a school judged by OFSTED in October 2017 as requiring improvement we are part way through a journey to a judgement of good and beyond, and have made substantial progress so far. You can be assured that in this dynamic environment there is no coasting, and the development of staff and resources is a constant high priority.
Geography is a progressive and successful department that contributes fully to the whole school community. It strives to maintain outstanding standards of teaching and to provide a challenging, relevant and rewarding learning experience for all students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 and 5. We are a forward thinking department that takes a whole school approach to learning for example, by raising environmental awareness through our Eco-Schools programme and by creating schemes of work that have international links to schools and organisations around the world. We welcome visits from potential candidates and to arrange this or to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact the Head Teacher’s PA Julie Lown on 020 8747 0031.

About Chiswick School
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Chiswick School, an 11-18 academy nestled in leafy Chiswick.
Our facilities and academic offer are second to none. Ofsted judged the school as having “outstanding” personal development and the school has been shortlisted twice for the prestigious TES award of Secondary School of the Year. GCSE and A Level results are consistently above national averages and our academic curriculum provides students with a pathway to Russell Group universities and top apprenticeships. In addition to studying more traditional subjects we are lucky to have excellent facilities and subject specialists to teach computing, design technology, the Arts and sport.
Chiswick School is full of adults who care deeply about children and we pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with students. We are a family which includes parents and carers, teachers, other school staff and the community; with the child placed firmly at the centre of all that we do and the decisions that we take.
Our teaching and support colleagues are our most valuable resource and we work hard to provide a balanced and enjoyable working environment. A Wellbeing Strategy has been implemented to enhance what we are already doing to support our staff.
"Staff praise leaders for the improvements that have been made. They said that leaders take their workload and well-being seriously. Staff morale is high. They are committed to playing their part in the continued improvement of the school." - Ofsted, January 2020
Laura Ellener
Headteacher
