Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic drama graduate with the knowledge and skills to assist the full time drama department staff with the day-to-day running of both curricular and co-curricular drama provision for the academic year starting September 2018. This is a one year, fixed term position and would suit someone who has recently graduated from university or drama school. 

The right candidate will have confident directing skills, with the presence and confidence to lead groups of secondary school age children. As well as an excellent knowledge of drama and drama education, we are looking for an inspirational graduate, keen to share their skills with the next generation.

The post is for 35 hours per week over Monday to Friday during term time only (35 weeks) and offers a salary of £20,000 per annum. The hours will be worked flexibly, including evenings and weekends where required.

Welcome to Emanuel. We are a fully co-ed school of over 1000 pupils, aged 10-18, with over 200 teaching and support staff colleagues.

We are an ambitious community. This summer, 87% of grades at GCSE were awarded 9-7, which is a lift of 37% across recent years. Our A Level A*-A percentage is 53%. This is 20% higher than in 2018 and the school is now recognised as one of the best for academic outcomes in the country. The recent ISI Inspection report noted that: “Pupils make excellent progress across the range of subjects and significant value is added to their academic outcomes.”

We are committed to developing all our major sports and value pupil participation as well as team and individual achievement. The school’s critical build plan will see a significant investment in our on and off-site sports facilities across the next 3-4 years. The same site plan will support the outstanding creative and performing arts teaching at the school, as the school’s plans for a large specialist science teaching block will also allow us to improve our facilities for music and drama, both areas of traditional strength. We were delighted that these areas were recognised in last year’s Independent School of the Year Awards when we won the award for our performing arts.

Beyond the classroom, we have a thriving partnerships programme, helping to develop our pupils at all ages as they participate in this work, and benefiting the local community, with over 1000 primary school children coming to use our site and work with our pupils each month. In 2021 we won the Independent School of the Year Award for our community outreach work.
