Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and passionate Head of Art to join us ideally in September 24, but will also consider applications for January 2025. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the DT & Ceramics departments to build on the successful curriculum/programme of extra-curricular opportunities for the boys in this successful and flourishing school.

Housed in our Exploration Centre, which was built in 2020, is the purpose built, light, and spacious art studio. The department is well resourced, fostering a vibrant and creative learning environment. The main aim of the Art Department at Ludgrove is to provide the boys with an understanding and enjoyment of this subject. Whether a boy goes on to study Art at a higher level, the ability to appreciate and enjoy the Arts is incredibly important throughout life. The syllabus is designed to teach a wide range of practical, traditional and innovative skills with which to create their work.

We are proud of our excellent reputation, we have wonderful boys and a talented team of supportive colleagues. A willingness to become fully immersed in the extra-curricular life of this busy boys’ fortnightly boarding school is essential.

This appointment is part of the Ludgrove teaching team and we offer a generous salary, pension scheme, private medical insurance, first-class resources and the very best facilities for teaching and learning. Single or family accommodation will be available for the successful applicant.

Ludgrove is a thriving fortnightly boarding school for boys age 8 to 13, which sits in 130 acres of spectacular grounds and it is a magical place to spend five years of childhood. I feel privileged to be the Headmaster and together with my wife Sophie endeavour to lead the Ludgrove community pastorally and academically. We believe our homely environment provides a wonderful place where boys flourish and realise their potential.

As a school, we are unashamedly ambitious for every boy and are proud of our strong academic record. The boys have a wealth of opportunities: a stimulating curriculum, exceptional facilities and a vibrant extracurricular programme with exposure to music, drama, sport and art. We aim to develop the boys’ confidence in a caring supportive environment, where they are valued as individuals and learn to live as a community. Friendships are made for life and the unique Ludgrove spirit allows boys to thrive in an atmosphere of high achievement, happiness, good manners and kindness.

My family and I feel lucky to live and work in beautiful surroundings with such a talented and committed staff, happy boys and supportive parents. The website can only give you a flavour of life at Ludgrove, so do please come and see us.
