This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced educator to make a significant impact in a thriving educational community.

Main Responsibilities Include

As the Head of Science, you will fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, ensuring high-quality teaching and effective use of resources to improve standards of learning and achievement for all students. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing policies in line with our commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Promoting the importance and value of science across our schools.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of science education and using this understanding to contribute to the school's development plan.
  • Promoting holistic development and British values through science education.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the curriculum meets the diverse needs of all students, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Integrating careers education into the science curriculum.
  • Liaising with feeder primary schools to facilitate a smooth transition to secondary school.

Leading the Curriculum:

You will lead the development and review of the science curriculum, ensuring it is well-sequenced to promote pupil progress. Additionally, you will oversee curriculum implementation and assessment to ensure positive learning outcomes for all students.

Leading and Managing Staff:

As Head of Science, you will establish an effective team, provide support to staff, and monitor teaching and learning to ensure excellence in science education. You will also facilitate professional development opportunities and manage day-to-day operations within the department.

Efficient and Effective Deployment of Resources:

You will manage resources, including textbooks and budget allocation, to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, you will create a stimulating learning environment and prepare resources for remote learning as needed.
