Are you a remarkable leader that wants more?

More opportunity to inspire our children to choose a REMARKABLE LIFE.

Plumberow Primary Academy is part of a family of schools brought together by one common vision and passionate belief that each and every child can lead a remarkable life. An excellent education transforms lives and every pupil who attends one of our schools is given the support, care and opportunity they need to flourish. Whether you are a senior leader working towards your first headship or a Head of School/Headteacher seeking a new challenge this is an amazing opportunity to lead our school.  Which is where you come in!

We are a large 3 form Academy, based in Hockley, Essex located between Chelmsford and Southend on Sea. We have facilities that we are proud of, including two halls, a spacious ICT suite, a large field, a designated cooking room, a well maintained library and an outdoor swimming pool. Teaching areas are both safe and well maintained, providing a stimulating working environment for the pupils.

Sadly, both the Executive Headteacher and Head of School have secured exciting promotions outside of the Trust and will be leaving us in August 2021. So we are now looking for an experienced leader who can build on the excellent work completed so far.

You will be passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes for all our children. You will care about the whole school community and will value our staff and the contribution they make.  As our new Headteacher, you will expect the children to leave Plumberow with resilience & confidence, and with a love of learning which will prepare them to realise their potential on the next stage of their journey.

We have committed staff who are willing to go above and beyond, children who are kind and polite and who love to learn and parents who are incredibly supportive.  Our new Headteacher will enjoy the autonomy of leadership rooted in the local community, whilst working in partnership with the regional cluster of academies, you will also have support from a committed local governing board.

AET has led the way in the response to the covid pandemic, with children at the centre. Investment in IT equipment for our most deprived learners and high quality virtual learning for all meant education continued. Robust risk procedures were followed to keep our children and staff safe and we shared best practice to support each other.  Using what we’ve learned over the last few years, we now have an extraordinarily ambitious vision of a new model of education for the future to be rolled out over the next few years.

About Plumberow Primary Academy

**Please scroll to the bottom of this page to view our live vacancies**

Plumberow Primary Academy is a very large 3 form Academy with approximately 650 pupils on roll. We have facilities that we are proud of, including two halls, a spacious ICT suite, a large field, a designated cooking room, a well maintained library and an outdoor swimming pool. Teaching areas are both safe and well maintained, providing a stimulating working environment for the pupils.

We aim to provide a happy, safe, and caring community, where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their goals.

The teachers and support staff form a very strong team and work closely with the Governing Body and Academies Enterprise Trust to promote high standards throughout Plumberow. Parental involvement is largely encouraged through a well established induction policy for new entrants and an open door policy. A large number of parents provide invaluable voluntary support in classes throughout the academy and there is a well established PTA, which provides a programme of fundraising activities throughout the year.

The academy teaches a broad and balanced curriculum which is enriched by a wide range of extra curricular activities. There is a very strong emphasis on sport and music within the academy and academy teams compete very successfully in a wide range of inter-school sports activities.

Tom Bottrill - Headteacher

Aims

Our committed and friendly staff aim to:

  • Provide an environment in which the children feel safe, secure and happy, and are able to become confident, independent learners.
  • Build on success by assessing each child as an individual and starting with what the child can do.
  • Ensure the development of the whole child according to age, ability and aptitude.
  • Value the partnership with parents and encourage relationships with the local community

Values

  • We will care for others
  • We will be powerful learners
  • We will strive for personal achievement
  • We will always challenge ourselves
  • We will work together to be good citizens

Our school values are celebrated weekly in our ‘Celebration Assembly’. Children will receive a celebration certificate.

Curriculum

The academy aims to provide a broad, balanced, coherent curriculum for the children that tries, as far as possible, to meet their individual needs.

Our prime aim is to deliver the National Curriculum. This consists of the following subjects:

Core Subjects

  • English
  • Maths
  • ICT
  • Science

Foundation Subjects

  • Geography
  • History
  • Design Technology
  • PSHCE
  • Art
  • RE
  • P.E.
  • Music
  • Modern Foreign Languages

The academy has developed planned modules relating to the National Curriculum.

Assessment Profiling is carried out in the Foundation Stage within the first few weeks of children starting with the academy. This is done implicitly so that children continue with child led tasks and activities and are unaware that observations are taking place.

On-going assessment is carried out throughout the academic year in order to inform teacher assessment and support children in recognising what they need to do in order to progress further in their learning.

Teachers also use a range of test materials in order to inform their assessments. These support evidence of pupil attainment, serving as an indication of their independent ability.

The results of Year 6 SATs tests are reported to parents and the results published.

Children are set according to ability in English and Maths in Years 5 and 6, whilst in Year 3 and 4, they are set in Maths only. There is an obligation to spend a large part of curricular time in the teaching of the Core subjects (English, Maths, ICT and Science).

Information from testing and teacher assessment is also used to set achievable targets for individuals and Year groups.
