Vacancy: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Permanent, Term Time Only

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire

Actual Salary: £16,958.41 - £17,243.05

We, Queen Eleanor Academy in Northampton, are looking for a committed and supportive Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our support team. Here at Queen Eleanor, we value diversity and set high aspirations for all our pupils within our community we serve. The support team play a vital part in equipping our pupils to succeed by enriching their experience at school by tailoring requirements for pupils.


As the HLTA you will support the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities which may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or for whole classes as well as covering subject leads and teachers’ PPA.


Key Responsibilities:

·      Assess the needs of pupils and use methods to support learning and academic progress

·      Working alongside the SENCO to develop and implement support plans

·      Covering class teaching with plans and resources provided


Key Skills:

·      GCSE or Level 2 equivalent in English and Maths

·      Experience working with Primary aged students

·      Ability to form positive working relationship by having excellent classroom presence

This HLTA opportunity would be suitable for an experienced Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant or a Graduate with experience of working with young pupils seeking to gain classroom knowledge prior to applying for teacher training.
