Job overview

Saba Verda British International School is situated just outside the city of Tortosa in the Ebro valley in the south of Catalonia. Our school is located in a beautiful setting with stunning views over the Ebro delta, in a Mediterranean climate. We are a small school that first opened its doors in September 2018, currently we have around 100 pupils from EYFS-KS4. Our school day runs between 8.30am and 3pm.

We are looking for our first Mathematics Curriculum Leader for KS3 and KS4 and from 2023/24 we are opening year 12 and 13. The school is small and well-run, classes have very small pupil/teacher ratios and we are always open to new innovative ideas and approaches. The right candidate will have a great opportunity to make his/her own mark on how the maths department will be run and will be supported by the leadership in the process. Our Mathematics Curriculum Leader would be responsible for the teaching and learning in the secondary department but also take part in training our primary teachers to increase the overall maths level in the school. He/she would be in a small team of ambitious and friendly colleges, who prioritise cooperation, support and a warm and welcoming social environment.

We are looking for a teacher preferably with experience in teaching at GCSE or iGCSE level or even baccalaureate. It would be desirable for the candidate to have experience in teaching other subjects, but it is not a requirement. We expect you to have at least two years of teaching experience in the UK or the Republic of Ireland, but preferably more. We are looking to hire a teacher with a proficient or native level of English and a PGCE, BEd or QTS.
