As a Mathematics Teacher, you will demonstrate effective planning, teaching, and organization while upholding high standards of achievement and behaviour in lessons.

Develop and review the school's mathematics curriculum and related schemes of work to ensure alignment with educational standards. Follow school assessment, recording, and reporting procedures to monitor student progress effectively. Share best practices within and beyond the mathematics department to enrich teaching quality. Promote cultural entitlement through a broad range of enrichment activities during and after the school day. Utilize student tracking and monitoring processes to advance children’s learning and enhance professional practice in line with school aspirations and priorities.

Identify clear teaching objectives, content, structures, and sequences of mathematics lessons appropriate to students' educational needs. Set appropriate, yet demanding expectations for student learning, emphasizing progression within mathematics lessons and over sequences of lessons. Emphasize conceptual understanding of mathematical principles and operations. Develop problem-solving skills through a variety of mathematical problems and puzzles that require critical thinking and reasoning. Promote mathematical fluency by encouraging regular practice of mental maths, arithmetic skills, and quick calculations. Connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications to demonstrate relevance and utility. Provide differentiated instruction to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. Incorporate technology tools to enhance understanding of mathematical concepts. Use formative assessments, feedback, and self-assessment strategies to monitor student progress and set next steps for improvement.

Actively engage in mathematical tasks, participate in class discussions, and ask questions to deepen understanding. Develop problem-solving skills by tackling a variety of mathematical problems and persevering through challenges. Use mathematical reasoning to explain solutions, justify answers, and make connections to real-life situations. Practice regularly and demonstrate persistence to build mathematical fluency and confidence. Collaborate with peers on group activities, discussions, and problem-solving tasks to share ideas and provide support. Reflect on problem-solving processes and set goals for personal growth. Apply critical thinking skills to analyse and evaluate mathematical situations. Communicate mathematical ideas clearly and effectively through written explanations and verbal discussions.
