About the Role 
We are seeking a dynamic and committed Music teacher to join our learning community in Semester 2, 2024.

The position involves a commitment to offering students an excellent education through the implementation of the Science of Learning as expressed through the Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn’s ‘Catalyst’ program. The successful candidate will join a strong and supportive team who are committed to the wellbeing and academic growth of all staff and students. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective teaching skills and an excellent understanding of the curriculum and work to support the development of the Arts at the College.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, drawing upon a deep understanding of curriculum content and pedagogical approaches.
  • Implement school processes to establish clear expectations for behaviour and create a safe, positive, orderly learning environment conducive to student engagement and achievement.
  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to accurately gauge student progress, adapt teaching practice to meet student needs and providing constructive feedback to support further learning.
  • Commit to developing their understanding of Church teachings on contemporary issues with a commitment to ensuring these are presented respectfully through subject areas where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with Faculty Leaders, House Leaders, colleagues, parents, and external agencies to enhance student learning outcomes and contribute to the broader school community.
  • Engage in professional development activities to continually improve teaching practice, setting and striving towards personal and professional goals and contributing to collective growth.
  • Have an openness to be involved in co-curricular activities including camps, retreats and extra-curriculum groups.

Essential Criteria 

  • Must hold a relevant Working with Children registration (WWVP) and Teaching Accreditation (TQI)
  • Must have completed (or be enrolled in and completing) a relevant degree in Education/Teaching tertiary qualification.
  • A commitment to Catholic education and the respectful promotion of the mission of the Catholic Church to students and the community.
  • Demonstrated high-level teaching skills and the passion and expertise to work individually and collectively to maximise learning outcomes for all students, including those with additional learning needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents and staff where the focus is on the learning and wellbeing of the student.
  • Well-developed self-management skills and the personal capabilities of self-reflection, integrity, resilience and emotional maturity.
  • Demonstrated capacity and willingness to develop students’ unique capabilities through participation in the broader life of the school.

Other Eligibility Criteria 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position. 
  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.
