The Student Services Division supports learners at each stage of their journey from pre-entry to post exit. The Division has a client orientated culture and puts learners’ needs at the heart of everything it does. The Division is structured into sections that work together to ensure student success and satisfaction.

Supervising a team of Student Engagement Advisors and the College Counsellor, the Safeguarding Co-ordinator will supervise and monitor cross college safeguarding work to ensure the safety/well-being of students.

Working with the Head of Engagement and Support, college staff and external agencies, you will provide a range of engagement and enrichment opportunities across the academic year which aim to promote well-being and reduce the risk of harm. You will also provide safeguarding intervention and support for students, whilst promoting safeguarding awareness to college staff, ensuring they fully understand their duties and referral procedures.

Candidates for this role must hold a Level 4 qualification (as a minimum) in Psychology, Social Science, Social Work, Youth & Community, Counselling, Teaching or Management and have extensive practitioner experience of safeguarding and the protection of children and vulnerable adults. We’re looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, representing the College on external bodies as necessary.

With a good understanding of the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework and with experience of improving standards, you will have demonstrable skills in the context of safeguarding and staff management and have evidence of working effectively with external agencies and staff across an organisation to safeguard young people and to enhance their wellbeing. Able to work effectively as part of a team, you will demonstrate relative and current knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, counselling, advice services along with the ability to supervise case loads and advise staff accordingly.

This post will be based at Kingston College.

This position is a fixed term contract until December 2018. It is a full time position, working 36 hours per week.
