Salary: Scale 4 Pt 7-8 (£20,827.42 - £21,177.20) actual salary per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours: 37 hours per week term time only (39 weeks per year)

Start Date: 01 July 2024

We are looking to recruit a new technician to join an established and supportive technician team. The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering engaging and exciting practical science activities as part of a wider Science Department team.

The Science Department at King Edward VI Grammar School (KEGS) comprises 13 specialist teachers and 5 science technicians. The team are friendly and hardworking and are looking forward to welcoming an enthusiastic new colleague to join them.

The postholder will, in the main, be required to provide specific support to the Chemistry Department and within that area, to provide full technician support to teaching staff, particularly in the preparation and cleaning/clearing of lesson materials. The successful applicant will have good organisational, planning and time management skills. The postholder would be required to provide support to other areas of the Science Department as appropriate. Previous laboratory or school experience is desirable but not essential (although full specialist training will be provided).

King Edward VI Grammar School, Chelmsford (known as KEGS locally) is a Leading Edge School, constantly testing and adapting professional practice to raise standards of teaching and learning.
