We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.

 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Science Technician to work within a large Science department. You will be working alongside an experienced Science technician with a wealth of knowledge in what health and safety inspectors called “the best prep room in the Walsall borough”.

 

The ideal candidate will show good initiative and the ability to follow procedures. Main duties include:

 

·      Keeping up to date with the latest health and safety guidance, legal requirements and good practice.

·      Advising teachers on Health and Safety, practical techniques, suitability of experiments & chemicals and safer alternatives.

·      Helping and advising pupils with investigations and projects.

·      Researching and trailing equipment and experiments for improved results and better health and safety, which includes contacting CLEAPSS for safer alternatives

·      Maintaining inventories & stock lists

·      Maintaining equipment and materials are safe and in good order, including mandatory checks.

·      Maintaining hazardous materials secure and checking stock.

·      Must be willing to become a First Aider and undertake the relevant training.
