Shrewsbury House Preparatory School

Surbiton

Job type:
Part Time, Casual
Start date:
September 2024
Apply by:
24 May 2024

Job overview

(ideally with the ability to teach other lower brass instruments and possibly French horn)

From September, there will be an opportunity for a Self-employed Visiting Music Tutor to offer trombone lessons at Shrewsbury House School, following the retirement of the current tutor after 25 years of dedicated service to the school.

In September we anticipate trombone teaching will amount to around two hours teaching per week, working with pupils from beginner to intermediate level. There is the opportunity to expand the amount of work and the teacher will be encouraged to work with the Director of Music to increase the number of boys learning trombone and other lower brass instruments.

Founded in 1865, Shrewsbury House is a thriving, highly successful and active school attracting committed, inspirational and dynamic teachers. Pupils move on at 13+ to a range of strong day and boarding schools.

The Director of Music, Mark Batten, is happy to have an informal chat with anyone interested in the role prior to making an application. Email: mbatten@shstrust.net.

Information on the school and application form can be found on the Shrewsbury House School external website (www.shrewsburyhouse.net) by clicking on Vacancies. Applications should be emailed to Human Resources at recruitment@shstrust.net by the closing date - 5pm on Friday 24th May. We plan to hold interviews during the week commencing 10th June. Applicants will be considered as they are received and the school reserves the right to make an offer of self-employed work at any point during the application process.

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION POLICY STATEMENT

Shrewsbury House School Trust is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Any offer of self-employed work will be subject to the receipt of satisfactory enhanced DBS [Disclosure and Barring Service] disclosure and other checks, references, medical clearance and proof of legal right to work in the UK.
