To professionally lead and manage SEND in accordance with the published SEN policy and the 2014 SEND Code of Practice: 0–25 years.

Responsible for specialist teaching staff, specialist and designated learning support assistants, and liaising with relevant staff, external agencies and parents/carers.

Required for September 2024, a well-qualified, experienced, and engaging leader. You will be joining arguably the top state girls’ comprehensive school nationally, working as part of its established, supportive and highly successful Senior Leadership Team. You will be passionate about educating girls in girls’ schools, a team player with demonstrated capacity, positive mindset and high levels of energy. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with NASENCO Award and be able to demonstrate impactful middle leadership. You will have an understanding of pastoral care and demonstrate impact in raising attainment. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take on an important leadership role within a thriving SEND department. The successful candidate will lead and further develop effective practice for students with particular learning needs, aiming for the highest achievable standards in all lessons and support sessions, so that students' learning needs are addressed in the most effective way and they are able to make rapid progress in line with the school's expectations. 

Knowledge of SEND, literacy and numeracy strategies for raising achievement is essential, as is the ability to develop links with all curriculum areas and Year teams in the school. Awareness of strategies to support student wellbeing and an ability to put in place early intervention procedures to safeguard students is essential. The department offers support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, both in small groups and through individual support. A commitment to extra-curricular activities and a high level of knowledge of IT and Data Analysis are also essential.

QEGS is a high achieving, oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive converter academy. The school is The North London hub for the National SCITT for training Maths and Physics teachers. As a training hub, we offer excellent CPD opportunities for our own staff, in-house, through external partnership and national programmes.
