An exciting opportunity for a SENCO to work lead our Learning Support Team. We welcome applications from qualified SENCOs and Teachers who are committed to gain the NASENCo qualification within 2 years of appointment to the post.

To manage Learning Support resources to ensure the accurate identification of pupils and students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, the provision of appropriate teaching and learning materials, interventions and strategies to address this needs and disabilities and the regular monitoring and evaluation of their progress.

Key responsibilities

·        As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, to lead the strategic development of Learning Support provision within the school

·        To lead the training of Staff in a wide range of Special Educations Needs and Disability issues in order to enhance expertise, improve classroom practice and accelerate pupil progress.

·        To liaise with relevant staff on Special Educational Need and Disability transition issues across all phases and the Exams Officer (where applicable) on Special Educational Needs and Disability pupils’ special arrangements for examinations.

·        To support Curriculum Leaders in undertaking Department Reviews

·        To co-ordinate the effective provision of the Learning Support Curriculum

·        To advise, update and lead the school on all Special Educational Needs and Disability legislation, developments and policies, both locally and nationally.

·        To lead and co-ordinate all Special Educational Needs and Disability issues within the school.

·        To contribute positively to the wider strategic aims and vision of the school and play a full part in the life of the school community and support and promote the school’s ethos and mission.

·        To implement Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures and practices.

·        To lead the training of staff in a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disability issues in order to enhance the expertise, improve classroom practice and accelerate pupil progress.

·        To attend Senior Leadership briefings and strategic meetings

Woldgate School and Sixth Form College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Pocklington, a small market town in York. It is an academy converter supported by a multi-academy trust called Wolds Learning Partnership. A larger than average school for a school of its type, it will provide 1,100 places for secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 11-18 when fully subscribed.

The school has been educating children from Pocklington and surrounding areas since 1958, and re-opened under the same name as an academy converter in January 2017.
